The joy of movement is introduced to the children through the classical training of Bharatanatyam. They learn to be space walkers and time keepers as they explore the traditions of classical Indian dance with a new flare for a global Indian culture. Simple steps, permutation and combinations of steps with hand gestures and rhythmic footwork is introduced to the children with cultural nuances such as bhoomi pranam (salutation to the earth) and other such cultural practices. Story telling as an art is introduced through Indian folk tales and mythology using gestural language and facial expressions. The session will end with a performance (costumes for performance provided by the instructor).
